Saying goodbye to 2014

7.35am Wednesday 31 December 2014

Again I am confirmed guilty of  being a year beginning and year end blogger.!.!.!

There is too much anger, hatred, pain, anguish and suffering that dotted 2014.
Home front, we have,
- The disappearance of  MH370. It has been 280 days..
- The shooting down of MH17. After 170th days, the perpetrators are still free....
- The unprecedented flooding of East coast states, Kelantan, Trengganu n Pahang and Perak......
Which displaced almost 200k people, killed 24 n left certain areas like the aftermath of tsunami.
- The unending cyber fights that resorts to ugly, unmoral dan most time despicable outburst...

International front, we have,
- The sinking of  the Korean ferry.
- The earthquake in Bohol and the onslaught of typoon Yolanda on central Phillipines
- The genocide in Palestine.
- The merciless killings in many parts of the world... Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan....
- The crashing of Air Asia Indonesia QZ8501 on Sunday 28 December
- The uncertainty of the world Economy.......

As of this moment, I can't think of any joyous events...... Except my happy times with my family...Such as
- Chinese New Year celebration with my parents, siblings n their families... Visiting my elders in my birth kampung.
- A visit to my sister n her family in Auckland with my other sister from Salado, Texas. We had a great time n took lots of pictures
- The Hari Raya Aidil Fitri n Aidil Adha. For this year, these two occasions were less merry because of the passing of my mother-in-laws.
-  The Cuti-cuti Malaysia to Sabah, Sarawak and Langkawi.
- A surprise short visit from my sister n her hubby from Salado right before the big flood....

I thank Allah SWT for my happy momemts n I redha with the unhappy ones....
And hope to cross over to 2015 with a full recovery for my right knee from injury sustained in the fall from a ladder 1 n 1/2 month ago which left me unable to walk properly. Thus, reduced the quality in my daily activities.....
I pray 2015 will bring more peace n harmony to the world at large n to my beloved homeland.
Lastly, may my family n I be blessed with all the goodness in life... Ameen

Syukur Alhamdulillah, My 1st Born Is 40 Today.

12.44am  Thursday 02 January 2014

Just texted my 1st born to wish him Happy Birthday...
Fourty years ago, he was borned at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baharu. To be exact, it was 12.59am 02.01.1974.
As he was due on the 29th December 1973, hubby got me admitted earlier because we were inexperient n not willing to risk rushing when the labour started....

Being admitted early was not really a good idea.. I had to endure the screaming n wailing  of  women who could not endure the pain. I remembered cryng silently during the night.

Come January 1st 1974, there was no sign of of him wanting to see the world... So the doctor induced my labour. Clad in hubby's blue pajamas top, I endured the excruciating  pain for many hours. The nurse gave me an injection to lessen the pain, I guessed... Finally, Syukur Alhamdulillah he arrived. He has my look n I did not need the name tag to recognise that he is mine.

The parents of a baby girl born on the same day, took a picture of me holding my bundle of joy.... And that is the only picture I had with him in the hospital.

He had jaundice. So we had to stay back a few extra days. I had to sun him every morning....

Then we brought him home n began the journey of bringing him up....

Our Cats

9.23am Saturday 21 December 2013

Just recovered from shock that I have lost the 2nd posting of 2013....
Going through the last entry, I discovered some spelling errors. In the process of making corrections, not familiar with the 'new' format, to my horror, I thought I have lost it for good !!!

Syukur Alhamdulillah. After trying here n there, I got it back.... Still wondering what I did wrong ?

Never mind, let me proceed with the 3rd entry of the year....

This time, I am going to talk about the cats under my charge.

Ady, is the female that came to our USJ home as a lovable adolescent many moons ago. She has grown into a lady so to speak; good natured, loves to be pampered, makes little sound, she will do the graceful jump the 1st thing you engaged her, will turns to the food whenever you stroke her...

Rex, is the handsome one who also came to us in USJ but as a kitty. My daughter, Aimo, picked him up , wet n hungry from the drain few months after Ady.  They hit off nicely. He grew up in my kampung home. Aimo begged me to adopt them after she could not spare much time for them due to workload. Of course, she promised to supply the food....
So Rex grew up climbing trees n playing hide n seek.

One day, Rex went missing for more than a day.
After searching high n low, finally, I found him trapped under the fiberglass empty fish tank that I overturned on my anjung.   He was lucky my anjung is wooden with space between the planks ! Rex is just like Ady,  he makes little sound too.
When he grew up into a real handsome brut, Aimo, always commented that who would believe that he n Ady were just 'stray' ! Of course, I would say, the costly IAMS n our love n attentions have a lot to do with that....

Another day, Rex went missing again. He returned after a few days. He looked thin, hagged n sickly. Hubby n I sent him to a vet in BP. It cost us RM 300++.
From the itemised bill that we requested, we knew that we have been had.... That was the 1st n the last time we visited  a private vet....

After that incident, we placed them in bought cages n the expenses also increased...

Boboy was picked up at the Perdana Court eatery. The stall assistant told us to bring him home as he
has been around scavenging for sometime. After we brought Boboy home n gave him a good bath,
he  practically turned into a handsome prince. His  bage colour fur looks rare but came of in handful. The hair drop could be due to his poor diet.....
Of the three, Boboy is the loudest, the most wainy n attention loving... Of course, he also attracts the most attention.

Now we have converted our store cum workshop into their home to give them more room. And my chores, taking care of them n the space doubled too. Nonetheless, looking at them n playing with them, makes it worthwhile....

Another new year, 2013

How and where do I begin ?
While visiting a blog, trying to understand the latest development in local politic, I suddenly remember that I have a blog myself...
OMG ! I have only 1 ( one) miserable  posting in the whole of 2012..... And that was in January !
Same old excuse, I guess... Busy face booking !

The year 2012 has been good, I must admit. Though there were a few bumps here and there...

Health wise, Syukur Alhamdulillah.

Anyway, there were 2 incidences that called for a better management of my life style.

First incidence took place during mid year. After an indulgence at all- you can eat steamboat outlet, reaching  home, the whole world spun. Hubby and daughter helped to massage. A bout of throw-up followed. Then only the spinning lessened. Ever since that day, I have not thought of steamboat...
Come to think of it, it did not begin with the steamboat. The steamboat thing was just the final straw on the camel back so to speak !  Lack of exercise and over eating were the culprits. The tightening of clothes and the bulging tummy were obvious signs but ignored. Now, to loose those extras is no small fit.

Second incidence was on a Sunday in November. I woke up with a fifty cents coin saiz lump under my right arm. Initially, there was no pain felt. A few hours later, it became sore , warm to touch and slightly painful ( on the scale of 5/10). My mind started to wonder if the big C has returned...
I tried hard to recall what happened prior to that. Then I remembered the previous week, I had fungal attack on my feet and left hand after wearing garden socks and glove that were not properly cleaned. I had an infectious right pointer finger injured during pruning of vogamvillas plants. So maybe it was just an infection on a lympnodeless arm...

Taking no chances, since I was then in Subang Jaya, I went straight to The Oncology Department, KL GH the next morning.  After the whole morning wait and my lengthy explanation and description, the doctor prescribed a week of antibiotics and  TCA for next year. So I gathered she was sure it was just a case of infection.
Diligently, I took 8 capsules per day for the whole week. And I consumed my daily natural health drink without fail and apply aloe vera gel to the lump...
Syukur Alhamdulillah. The soreness, the pain are gone but a little lump still remains. I'll continue to apply Aloe vera gel and see.

Most importantly, I must lead a healthier life style: eat well, exercise and watch my weight. And I must exercise more caution during gardening... New year's  resolutions !

Second posting of 2013

2.44am Friday 20 December 2013

Year 2013 will have at least 2 postings!!!

Could not sleep. Not that I am an early sleeper...
After updating my journal while watching 'Criminal Mind', I switched to blogging.
Tired of political bloggers endless 'disputes'.... Sometimes can't tell what is the truth anymore, I visited more personal blogs. Then I saw a sentence that reads, " You are a writer if you return to your blog...."

Hmm.... That jolted my memory to the fact that I do own a blog myself... Long abandoned since January 2013....
So , determined to at least have two postings this year, here I am tapping away on my iPad. Just letting the thought flows like I am making an entry in my journal.... Not difficult at all, is it ?!

Wonder why I have not been updating it ?
Facebook is still the scapegoat..... Like in 2012.... :-(
Eversince I  joined fb in 2008,  I am totally into it. It is like an addiction.  I obtained practically most of my infos of the day from fb, not that I am complaining....

I have many fb friends. They are mostly my ex students, university mates, ex colleagues and family.  I usually will check out a friend request thoroughly before accepting it.  I prefer fb friends who are not politically bias, moderate in worldview n relegious inclination....

Recently, an ex colleague who is a friend at work. made a friend request. I have not accepted yet. Reason being, when I visited the wall, too much of holy than  thou kind ofpostings.... Maybe, it is best to stay friends off cyber....

Sometimes, I find myself still behaving like a tutor who advices students on their problems n cheer them on their professional paths. I guess, once an educator, forever an educator....

It is 3.20am. Better call it a day. Better not push my luck where health is concerned. I do believe, one cannot replacethe lost night sleep... But believing is not enough....
I'll try to make it more than 2 postings...So help me God....

My Little Girl has Grown Up

Wed, 12 Jan 2010

'Ma, cousin Su said we have to wear red to cousin Ji's wedding in March. Red is the theme colour.. so all cousins must wear red for the occasion.' Adik sounded a little worried over the phone cause she has already spent quite a bit on CNY clothes, put aside money for lodging, petrol subsidy and angpow for the grams. Without a decent red dress to her name means some more spending !

Alas ! I was putting the last touches to the the red dress that I bought over the weekend which needed a little adjustment. Hmmm, isn't that God willing? Adik happily accepted the offer....

Thurs, 13 Jan 2012

' Ma, I have just transferred RM.. in your account, do go for a movie and eat out with dy. Enjoy yourselves, ok ? A pleasant boost to my blue mood ! It is not the money that counts.. Just a while ago, over the phone, I told Adik whether one has 10 children or 2 children, at the end, one ended up with only the spouse or alone !

This thought cropped up after hubby commented that his widowed elder brother is so lonely. He is down with bad case of hernia/angin pasang. All his 6 children are either working or staying on their own. Being an outdoor man, life must be difficult.

So as usual, Adik is the one I turn to for her ears. I told her, I'm preparing myself for the eventuality, being alone, if God willed it. I always pray that God will grant me the health to be independent till the end....... ...Ameen. I also told Adik that her dy is not only feeling sorry for his Abang Long but very much saddened by the passing on of his younger brother last month. It has not been easy on him...

Thank you dearly ,sayang, for trying to cheer us up. God bless you. Ameen.

Mon, 16 Jan 2012

'Ma, Abang has not messaged me his flight itinerary and has not responded to my sms as well as message through facebook and he expected me to fetch him and his family from the airport! All I know is Jetstar flying in from Singapore will land in KLIA.'

Poor girl, expected to do the brother a service without proper information is tough on her busy schedule today! She has an on-line meeting with an associate around 10 am. She has postponed that meeting before so no can do this time. I told her if I remember it right ,their arrival is around 1 pm, So My suggestion to her is either she be there after her 2 hours meeting, prepared to wait around or leave them to take the RM 80++ teksi!!

'Never mind, I'll try to cut short the meeting and be there. Abang sure pokai already ! Some more got to pay that much...wasting money! '

Told her to ring me when she reaches KLIA. God bless my sayang. Ameen

Goodbye 2011.

It has been an eventful year....

Good, bad and ugly..... happy, sad and angry....

Whatever it was, it was part of life....

Neither you nor I could change it....

It has been written in our book of life.....

Let's learn from it...
