Sayonara to 2015

Goodbye, chaichien and selamat tinggal to the year 2015...
Less than 8 hours to go and it shall be Sayonara to 2015...😪😔😳

What has it been like? Has it been good, bad or ugly ?

It has been good for us Malaysian.
We are still standing tall on our beloved soil.
We are still able to wake up to a day as a free person to get on with our routine, chose to have nasi lemak, capati or toast & scrambled eggs for breakfast...
We are also free to go to mesjid, church or kuil to fulfill our religious obligation.
We are free to send our children to the school of our choice, be it government or private.
We still enjoy free medical care and basic education...
We are provided with good if not best infrastructures and facilitues to improve our standard of life.
We, from the lower income group are given all forms of help and subsidy to ease our life against the rising cost of living.

It has been bad for us Malaysians.
Many Malaysians died in road accidents due to recklessness and disrespect for the rules and regulations.
Many Malaysians drown due to ignorance and lack of sense of safety.
Many Malaysians succumed to all sorts of life style related illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart attack...
Many young Malaysians declared  bankrupts due to uncontrolled credit cards spending.
Many Malaysians seem to have lost the ability to count their blessing. Always complain and bad mouth own country. Nothing seem to be good in their eyes.

It has been Ugly for us Malaysians.
Many Malaysians have lost the sense of decency to be honest and behave without integrety, slandering others without batting an eyelid, giving and taking bribe become part of life...
Many Malaysians especially politicians always employ the tactic ' The end justifies the means'. They went as far as selling the country's sovereignty to outsiders to achieve their goals.
Many Malaysians are so obsessed with certain personality and willing to swallow all line and sinker without giving a thought to the welfare of the people and the nation.
Many Malaysians have lost sense of humanity. Lack of compassion n empathy towards the unfortunates. Eg the Rohingya refugees......

For the approaching 2016, may we be blessed with more good things, less bad ones and none of the ugly ones. Inn Sya Allah.
May Allah SWT give us good health, happiness, prosperity, longevity and sense of humanity. Ameen.
Happy 2016 to one and all.

Human and Humanity

Wednesday 20 May 2015

On  16 May 2015, in response to The Rakyat Post , "Boat people at our door- The dilemma right now is whether Malaysia should allow them in or turn them away...., I commented:

" Please don't turn them away. Just look at them, men, women, children n the aged. Helpless n hopeful. Believe me, I have seen the same look n plight on the faces of the Vietnamese boat people on the Kelantan river in the 70's... Save them first..... For humanity sake. Work it out among the ASEAN Leaders... Call for emergency sitting if you must. The world is big enough for everyone if each one just learn to share a little....."

On the same day, I received 2 comments.
One from Teddy Babai Juel who wrote, " Yes bring it to your home and stay with your children n cucu see what happen ??? Would you like that???" He received 2 likes. One from Catherine Henry Tabor and one from June Listiani Admodisastro.
Another comment is from Alvin CW who posted, " voice of reason and empathy amongst a chorus of hate and misguided reasoning. Thank you Kartina I hope more would voice the same."
My reply to both was as follows... " Thanks Alvin CW for sharing the same compassion. Teddy Babai Juel, may God bless you..."

On 18 May, Catherine Henry Tabor posted, " Bring them all to your house and don't use our tax payers money..we have enough problem with GST and all other sheet with illegals here in Malaysia." She received one like from June Listiani Admodisastro.
I replied, " God bless you Catherine Henry Tabor."

The whole episode sends a shock wave down my spine...
Just like Alvin said, ".......amongst a chorus of hate and misguided reasoning....." And his wall quotation says it all, " I see Human but not Humanity".

I kept searching for the reasons why these people are so bitter, hateful, unreasonable, lack of compassion and .....
Judging from their face book walls, they belong to the younger generation. From their postings, I am very sure they are 'educated'.  So is it nature or nurture that make them the way they are ? But I believe in the Islamic teaching that everyone is borne   innocence so it must be the nurture... Is it the fault of the family, the school or the society ?
